By what right do we enter God’s throne room to ask anything of Him? This is the true miracle of prayer, that the Almighty Ruler of the Universe is also our loving Father. He knows each of us by name, wants to listen to us, and knows our needs better than we know them ourselves.
The Point: Meaningful prayer requires an honest conversation with our Father.
Next Steps: Begin each day this week by thanking God for allowing us to come to Him as our Father.

God reveals His Name so that we can speak to Him as a Person. He is not an abstract force, or some philosophical idea. He reveals Himself as someone who loves us. How seriously do we take this honor of knowing Him?
The Point: Prayer inspires us to become the powerful, holy people that God calls us to be.
Next Steps: As we think about God’s holiness this week, let’s each identify one new way in which we can do a better job representing our Father in the world.

Bread is a powerful symbol of both need and provision. If there is not enough bread, we cannot survive. But how much is “enough”? When have we crossed the line from need to desire? And when do our desires keep others from having what they need?
The Point: Prayer reminds us that we need Our Father more than we need anything else.
Next Steps: As we pray this week, let’s begin by reminding ourselves that our Father is more than enough for us, before we start asking for anything else.

Money managers constantly tell us that debt is a bad thing. It deprives us of our independence. However, debt can also be an isolating thing. It can drive deep wedges into our closest relationships. How do we cope with these painful obstacles to the human connections that we all desire?
The Point: Prayer reminds us that none of this works without grace.
Next Steps: Where do we need a more grace in our lives, both receiving it and giving it?

Life requires constant negotiation with our desires. What we want is not always good for us, or good for the ones we say we love. Tests quickly become temptations when those desires kick in. How can we keep our desires in check, so that we can become the people we are meant to be?
The Point: Prayer reminds us that this is a winnable war.
Next Steps: How can God help us this week to win whatever spiritual battles we are fighting?
