In mid-July, Roser was surprised by a request from Sato Real Estate. The current owner of the historic cottage at 106 Willow Ave in Anna Maria will replace it with a large, elevated beach home. Sato Real Estate is covering all costs to lift and relocate the cottage via Willow Ave, Gulf Drive, Pine Ave., and across our South Parking Lot (the only feasible path) onto the back of Sato property. The existing “Roser Cottage” in the front will become the Rental office with most public interactions while the Willow cottage will become the Sales office.
To accomplish this, Sato has hired a specialty house mover and Mason Martin as the contractors. A storage shed at the back of Sato has been removed, and Anna Maria permits received. A one-day move is set to take place on Wednesday Oct. 8. The cottage will be placed on railroad ties while its foundation, utility connections and steps are prepared; then lowered. To provide access, Mason Martin will remove and quickly replace our landscaping along Pine Ave, a section of our east fence, and fill any significant rutting from the move. This will be followed by a regrade of our South Lot to fill holes and drain rainwater to the south / away from our building and to use hard granite rock of walkable size versus the current rock that gradually degrades into a powder blocking water absorption. The city has prioritized improving the runoff from Roser’s and Sato’s south property lines to the bay.
Roser Church is excited about playing a role in saving the historic cottage!
The parking lot south of the Thrift Shop will be blocked off on Oct. 8th, with parking available in the Fellowship Hall and Sanctuary Lots and there will be some disruption when the South Lot is being upgraded.
