JOY (Just Older Youth)

WED FEB 21 at 11:30 AM in the Fellowship Hall – Can you identify the butterfly pictured?

Mostly in Peru, it can be found as far north as Texas and Florida. Hint:  it’s Florida’s state butterfly!  The stripes are a warning to predators, informing them that they are poisonous.  At night, these butterflies frequently roost together in groups. Up to 60 individuals may perch together on a branch, and they often return to the same place each evening. Elena Burke, Manatee County Parks and Natural Resources will present BUTTERFLIES of Florida. Learn about our native pollinators. A spiritual symbol of rebirth,  their life cycle is so short, yet they display such beautiful colors and designs.  What can we do to attract them and promote their health?

Please bring a bag lunch and join the conversation.

JOY (Just Older Youth) meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month at 11:30 AM. Bring a bag lunch.  Beverage and treats will be served. We meet at Roser Church in Fellowship Hall. Guys and dolls, both – are welcomed! Roser Church is located at 512 Pine Avenue, Anna Maria, near the City Pier. The Fellowship Hall is the entrance east of the Roser Memorial Chapel, closest to the Anna Maria City Pier. For more information call 941-778-0414, go to or find us on Facebook
