Bring that Hawaiian shirt out from the back of your closet! Don a lei or a flower behind your ear! Join us for a LUAU in our Fellowship Hall! Mary Zion and her class of Hawaiian Hula Dancers, the Aloha Nui Dancers led by Barbara Winsten, will entertain us as we enjoy some treats from Hawaii. JOY (Just Older Youth) meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month at 11:30 AM. Bring a bag lunch.  Beverage and treats will be served. We meet at Roser Church in Fellowship Hall. Guys and dolls, both – are welcomed! Roser Church is located at 512 Pine Avenue, Anna Maria, near the City Pier. The Fellowship Hall is the entrance east of the Roser Memorial Chapel, closest to the Anna Maria City Pier. Feb 15: To celebrate Valentine’s Day, come to JOY to meet Genbu, a gopher tortoise!  Elena Burke, of the Manatee County Natural Resources Department, will escort Genbu to our meeting on Feb 15th to introduce to us the problems Florida’s gopher tortoises are experiencing.  Suffering from a hit-and-run accident, Genbu was rehabilitated, but can not be released back into the wild.  Come hear his story.  Spread a little love his way and learn how you can help.

WED MAR 1: A Visit with Elephants – Trip to Myaka – Join JOY on an Elephant Encounter! Our TRIP to an ELEPHANT RANCH, a conservation and education facility in western Manatee County, will be on Wednesday, March 1st. The cost will be PREPAID $28 per person, by Feb 1st and is non-refundable. We are limited to 25 participants. Sign up is now open. Complete the form below or call the church office to reserve a spot. Please pay your admission online at RoserChurch.com/give, drop off a check or cash in an envelope at the church office or place in the offering on Sunday and note for “JOY Elephant Encounter”. We will leave from the Roser Fellowship Hall parking lot promptly at 10:15 March 1st . Directions to the ranch will be given at that time. It is about an hour’s drive straight thru Bradenton on Manatee Avenue. Please indicate if you can drive others in your vehicle or if you need transportation. There will be a 45-minute informational presentation and a 30-minute encounter with the 3 resident elephants. After our visit, we will stop at Hunsader Farms for a BYO picnic, so be sure to bring a bag lunch & drink! You will be free to browse the fresh produce available at the farm. Those driving their own car are free to return home whenever they wish. Deadline to sign-up: Feb 1 – Wait List will be maintained – Participants limited to 25 people.

Mar 15: Vision & Balance – Encompass Health – Everyone will receive a free box lunch from Panera, so reservations must be made by MAR 13! Complete the form below or call the church office to reserve a spot. Join us at JOY on Wednesday March 15th at 11:30 in Roser Fellowship Hall as we learn and discuss how important vision and balance is for us Older Youth!  Margaret Clarke is an Occupational Therapist and Therapy Manager at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital. Trained as an Occupational Therapist in England, she worked with children and in the community before moving to America in 1981.  Find out what we can do to preserve our vision,  minimize dangerous falls and keep our balance!
