Job Opportunity – Part-Time Nursery Attendant

Roser Church seeks part-time nursery attendant, 8:15-11:15 every Sunday. Must be dependable and enjoy being with children. Call the Church Office at 941-778-0414 if interested.

Purpose of Position: To provide dependable, safe, secure, and nurturing care of the children while they are at Roser, ages 0-kindergarten during Sunday morning worship services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide age-appropriate care, including but not limited to: feeding, changing diapers, escorting to the bathroom, maintaining a safe environment, holding, or sitting with and cheerfully interacting with children through games, stories, play, videos and prayer along with age appropriate Sunday school lessons.

• Be polite, friendly, and courteous and seek to develop good trusting relationships, with all children, parents, and volunteers.

• Arrive 15 minutes prior to the 8:30 am worship service. Childcare hours are every Sunday 8:15 am to 11:15 am holidays included.

• In the event of an emergency with a child notify the parent via cell phone. Be sure to obtain the parent’s cell phone number when they drop off their child.

• Stay until the children are secured with the adult named on the sign in sheet

• Cleaning up after last service:

o Straighten the room and pick up toys and chairs before leaving.

o All toys that have had contact with saliva will require special attention. A sanitizing wipes will be available to use in the nursery.

You may leave when all the children are gone and cleanup is complete.

• May be asked to assist with Sunday school.

• Report any issues which are hindering the performance of your duties, or ideas to improve the service, to the Chair(s) of Board of Religious Education (BREd).

• Communicate in advance, by phone,  to a BREd chair:

 1) Two-week notice for planned absences.

 2) If extenuating circumstances require an unplanned absence, call at least two hours prior to the scheduled start time.

SAFETY:

  • Comply with all Roser policies applicable to the position of Nursery Attendant. 

  • Good hand washing, and sanitation practices should always be followed when changing diapers or coming in contact with bodily fluids. The changing table and supplies should be disinfected each time after use.

• No child shall be released to anyone but the adult on the sign in sheet. (It is OK if they put more than one adult name on the sign in sheet).

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience in caring for children between the ages of 0 to kindergarten with the ability to adapt and interact with a variety of personalities.

• Dependable

• At least 18 years of age

• Satisfactory background check

• Must have good basic knowledge of first aid procedures.  A first aid kit will be supplied.

• Satisfactory completion, with certification, of CPR training for infants and children.

• Must adhere to Roser policies.

• Three references.

• Must have dependable transportation.
