By reflecting on the opening three chapters in Romans, we discover that the Cross is God’s Solution to the Human Problem of Sin. These sermons were delivered during the spring of 2021. Sermon Notes and Discussion Questions are provided for each session.
Week 1: The Human Dilemma (Romans 2:1-16)
The Cross is God’s solution to our complex human mess. In order to appreciate the solution, however, we must understand the nature of the problem. In this sermon, we examine the Apostle Paul’s analysis of the problem expressed to the religious people of his day. His words will help us discern what lies at the heart of our human problems.
Week 2: The Divine Exchange (Romans 4:25-5:2)
Through the Cross and Resurrection of Jesus, God restores His creation and His children. How do we participate in God’s powerful, restoring work of making us right again?
Week 3: The Divine Renewal (Romans 8:1-11)
Recovery is a long and difficult road. Whether we are recovering from illness, injury or addiction, the pathway requires extraordinary power. God provides this power for all of us recovering from the effects of a broken world. Come experience the power!
