The Story of Abraham anticipates the story of Jesus, revealing a consistent biblical message about who we are and what our purpose is. These sermons were delivered during the spring of 2021. Sermon Notes and Discussion Questions are provided for each session.
Week 1: Discovering Our Father (Genesis 12:1-5)
We do not know much about Abraham’s background, but his life radically changes when God calls him. Our Heavenly Father will always find us, wherever we are, and when He calls us, we will discover our place, our direction, and our purpose.
Week 2: Discovering Our Family (Genesis 17:1-8)
Abraham does not come from a perfect family. His family included broken people too. Yet, God still works through this broken family to create a new people that would fill the entire earth. Because of God’s creative work, we discover that our families will also grow in ways we can never imagine.
Week 3: Discovering Our Mission (Genesis 22:1-18)
God at one point calls Abraham to do the unthinkable, to sacrifice his beloved, promised son. God uses this test in Abraham’s life to extend His promise to all people for all time. We too are called to pass whatever tests challenge us, and God will use our faithfulness to extend and encourage His entire family.
