Jesus speaks to the Apostle John from Heaven, some 60 years after His Resurrection and Ascension. We have those last words in the New Testament book called Revelation or Apocalypse. In the final chapter of that Book of Scripture, the Master calls His church to become what He has called them to be. And He assures them that our God is always creating something new, even when it seems like we are at the end.
Week 1: A Tree, Revelation 22:1-3a, Sunday, September 13, 2026
The Scriptures begin and end in a garden, featuring a tree that has always promised eternal life. That tree is still standing, and so are God’s people. A family that began with one couple has now become a multitude. How can this vision inspire us?
Week 2: A City, Revelation 22:3b-5, Sunday, September 20, 2026
When John sees the vision recorded in Revelation, the precious city of Jerusalem was in ruins, razed to the ground by Roman forces. However, God did not abandon His people. John sees the Son of David returned to His glorious, eternal throne, and the kingdom forever restored.
Week 3: A Scroll, Revelation 22:6-7, Sunday, September 27, 2026
Our souls crave certainty, We have been too often misguided, deceived and deluded. More information has not solved our problems. If anything, we are now left with too many possibilities, a confusing collection of choices. Into this cloud of unknowing, Jesus speaks a comforting word of certainly, to anchor our souls in the storm.
Week 4: An Unmasking, Revelation 22:8-11, Sunday, October 4, 2026
In times when ships displayed colors to declare their identity, enemies sometimes deceived one another by hiding their true colors. John sees a time, coming soon, when the truth will come out, and people will be seen for who they truly are.
Week 5: A Beginning and Ending, Revelation 22:12-13, Sunday, October 11, 2026
How things begin does not always reveal how they will end. How we begin the journey does not always predict where we will end up. In one important case, however, the beginning and the ending are the same. The One who created the world will also determine its destiny. The One who created us will likewise decide our end.
Week 6: A Gate, Revelation 22:14-17, Sunday, October 18, 2026
Christ alone holds the key to our future, our transition from this life to eternity. He issues an open invitation to anyone who will come, to this life and the next with Him in His glorious presence.
Week 7: A Decision, Revelation 22:18-21, Sunday, October 25, 2026
As the last book of the Bible closes, it presents us with an important choice. We must decide whether John is telling us the truth about what God has planned for us and for our world. This decision must then set a course for how we conduct our lives, our journey from here to there.
