Mike Slaughter is lead pastor and Chief Dreamer of Ginghamsburg Church where he has served for 36 years. He is a catalyst for change in the worldwide church. Ginghamsburg has grown from just 90 people in worship to a thriving mission center where thousands of people serve Jesus. His dynamic teaching, heart for the lost and innovative approach to ministry has led Ginghamsburg Church to outgrow all paradigms for a church in a cornfield. Mike’s call to afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted will challenge attendees to wrestle with God and their God-destinies.
In 2005 and 2006, Ginghamsburg was named as one of the top 50 churches in the U.S. by The Church Report magazine. In 2007, The Church Report listed Mike as one of the 50 most influential Christians in America. As a mentor, Mike travels globally to speak and uses his “gift of irritation” to equip ministry leaders to minimize brick and maximize mission so that they may fully deploy the mission of Jesus into the world. He is also the author of multiple books including The Passionate Church: Ignite Your Church and Change the World (Abingdon Press) and many more.
He and his wife Carolyn live in Tipp City, Ohio. They enjoy spending time with their two grown children and three granddaughters.

DISCOVERING ANNA MARIA
Anna Maria Island is a quaint Barrier Island nestled in the Gulf of Mexico. Beautiful turquoise waters and white sandy beaches are the main attraction here. It is a place where “old” Florida charm can still be found, flip flops are a way of life and the speed limit never exceeds 35mph. High rise condos and fast food restaurants are pleasantly absent from our pristine “get away from it all” island. Our accommodations and restaurants offer something for everyone. From quaint cottages by the sea to deluxe suites, from million-dollar villas to rustic cottages to own, one visit to Anna Maria Island and you will be calling it, “My island in the sun”.
In 1911 the Anna Maria City Pier was built and in 1913 John Roser built the first house of worship, Roser Memorial Community Church, in memory of his mother. Roser was the creator of the Fig Newton, which he eventually sold to Nabisco Brands. Roser Memorial Community Church still stands and attends to the spiritual needs of Islanders. In 1921 the first wooden bridge was built connecting the island to the mainland in the fishing village of Cortez. The Bradenton Beach fishing pier is the western end of that original bridge.
Throughout the developmental period of the Island, local city governments have worked diligently to preserve the heritage of This “Island In The Sun”, Anna Maria Island.

WHERE TO STAY www.annamariaislandchamber.org/WheretoStay
Anna Maria Island offers a wide variety of accommodations from historic bed & breakfasts, beach-side cottages, quaint hotels, motels, luxury homes, beach and condo rentals, spacious villas and full service resorts. Stay at one of the beautiful beach side Anna Maria Island hotels. Beautifully restored Florida homes and businesses give you the feel of times past while state-of-the-art condominiums treat guests to luxurious island living. Commercial, sky-rise buildings do not exist here on Anna Maria. Most of our accommodations are no taller than three stories, making each lodging accommodation a unique experience. With its own flavor and character, Anna Maria Island offers a quiet relaxing, tropical-island feel with all the comforts you desire. Whether you wish to stay a day, a week or a month you will find people from all over the world joining you in calling it their home-away-from-home, their “Paradise without an attitude.”
WHAT TO DO www.annamariaislandchamber.org/FunandLeisure
Not in the mood for a beach day? Not to worry. There is so much to see and do on Anna Maria Island. Spend the day at one of our many art galleries, museums or aquariums in the area. Learn the history of Anna Maria Island or the sea life large or small living in our natural wonder of the Gulf of Mexico. Our unique barrier island is surrounded by nature parks and beautiful naturally landscaped paths. Bring your binoculars, roller blades, walking shoes or your bicycle and enjoy your very own eco-tour! If you are looking for a bit of low key competition then Put-Put golf for the day is a perfect get-a-way. If you work up a sweat playing a little miniature golf then stop off for another treat at one of many ice cream shops. If you prefer less participatory sports then take in a professional or semi-professional baseball, football or hockey game. From kayaking to parasailing, horseback riding along the shore or taking a Segway tour, Anna Maria Island has the perfect activities for the entire family!
DISCOVERING ROSER CHURCH
DISCOVERING ROSER CHURCH
Roser Community Church is a congregation of Christian people from varying denominational backgrounds united in worship, learning, and service. Enriched by the variety of our doctrinal and liturgical heritage, we respond to Christ’s claim on our lives for the benefit of our own congregation, and for the benefit of people in our local community and in the world beyond.
Senior Pastor, Rev. Dr. Bob O’Keef accepted the call to Roser Community Church in August, 2014. He received his Masters of Divinity from Duke University Divinity School and his Doctorate of Ministry, summa cum laude, from Drew University Theological School. During his years as a pastor he has served in churches large and small, urban and rural.
Associate Pastor, Rev. Neil Crowell was born and raised in Midland, NC. He earned his B.A. in Philosophy and Religion from Appalachian State University in Boone, and his Master of Divinity from Hood Theological Seminary. Neil joined the team in January 2016. Other than his love of people, mission, and his call to ministry, he enjoys fishing, golf, and pulling for the UNC Tarheels!
Under their ministry, Roser church is increasing in numbers and giving and developing exciting, innovative programs that are reaching out into the island community, drawing in the many snowbirds and tourists that flock to the island and building a base of regular attenders.
We invite you to take advantage of this great opportunity!
