Ash Wednesday

WED FEB 14  ♦ 12:00 Noon ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE in the historical Roser Memorial Chapel. Everyone is invited to join us for a time of reflection, prayer, worship, and repentance and the imposition of ashes as we begin the Lenten Season.

Experience the ambiance of this historical centennial Chapel—how the light from the stained glass windows plays over the pews, the soft sounds of the organ music reverberating from the many pitches of the wood paneled ceiling. In this beautiful centennial Chapel one can sometimes sense the continuing presence of the small group of early Anna Maria Island pioneers who came together to worship and to study the words and ways of the Christian faith. Yes, you might leave with an ash cross on your forehead that you’ll wear all day, but what a witness to others of the saving grace of Jesus Christ, and that in Him, we are forgiven!

The Roser Chapel is open to all for private prayer and meditation every Sunday through Friday. For 100 years, the Roser Memorial Chapel has offered the people of Anna Maria Island a place to meditate and pray. John Roser, father of Charles Roser, one of Anna Maria Island’s early land development partners had a dream… he wanted to have a chapel open to all people of Anna Maria Island, residents and visitors alike. By the Spring of 1913, the chapel had been designed, constructed, dedicated, and open for use by anyone who wished to do so.  With funds provided by Charles Roser and with Capt. Mitch Davis as builder, the John and Caroline Roser Memorial Chapel was constructed and donated to the people of Anna Maria Island, with the stipulation that it should always be the community’s church, not that of any particular religious denomination. The Roser Memorial Chapel remains a treasured spiritual refuge and resource for Island residents and visitors.

Roser Memorial Chapel is located on historic Pine Avenue (512) near the Anna Maria City Pier just past the Roser Church Sanctuary. For more information call the church office at 941-778-0414, email, go to or find us on Facebook at www.facebook/roserchurch.
